Iran is willing to reinitiate nuclear negotiations with the United States as long as it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

Previous Discussions Suddenly Terminated

The previous five rounds of negotiations between the United States and Iran were ended suddenly and hostile conclusion on 12 June when Israel, with Washington's assistance, struck Iranian nuclear sites in a two-week conflict that concluded with the American leader asserting the sites had been eliminated. Subsequently, European countries employed their right to restore global restrictions, but Iran insists they have not had a significant effect.

Perfect Agreement Suggested

Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was decided an domestic cooperative with American involvement could refine atomic fuel. The two nations would have been able to claim victory since local refinement would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been settled in the discussions that US nuclear scientists could operate on Iranian soil, but that was a natural consequence of the consortium proposal. Representatives asserted on multiple occasions they had reached agreement with the US representative Steve Witkoff only for the arrangement to disintegrate due to "detractors in America".

Current Status

Iran's diplomats stated the partnership proposal was now no longer available, but it seems very probable the proposal could be revived in various formats if negotiations restart.

The foreign minister declared: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned negotiations; it was the United States and the western countries that had consistently sought to dictate their will during the talks. Diplomacy can still be alive and stays the ultimate solution to address disagreements, but its standards, guidelines and principles must be followed."
